Since May 2017, Awinash Bawle has served as the Deputy Director for International Affairs and Business Development at the State of California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) in Sacramento. In this capacity, he oversees and coordinates the promotion and development of two-way international trade and investment opportunities for the world’s 5th largest economy, across a wide range of industry sectors, geographic regions, and initiatives. Prior to his tenure in Sacramento, Mr. Bawle spent over seven years serving as an international trade specialist in the Office of South Asia at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. Mr. Bawle holds a Master’s degree in International Policy Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, which included one semester as a visiting scholar at the Jawaharlal Nehru University School of International Studies in New Delhi, India. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, and is a native of Detroit, Michigan.
